

(DALIANNEWS)—WTO Informal Ministerial Meeting kicked off at Dalian Furama
Hotel on July. 12 afternoon in the city of Dalian, steering talks over a
groundwork for the coming world trade negotiations slated for December 13-18 in
Hong Kong.
As the preparatory meeting of the Hong Kong
Ministerial Conference, the Dalian Meeting hopes to make constructive progress
on related issues in the realm of agriculture, NAMA and development issues,
etc.
The Plenary Meeting held today attracted over 300 delegates from 30
WTO members from Asia, Africa, North America, Latin America and
Oceania. The core negotiations have been emphasized on domestic
support, market access and export subsidies, the three key pillars of DOHA round
agriculture issues. Bo Xilai, Minister of the State Ministry of Commerce mentioned on
the beginning of the Meeting that Dalian Meeting emits a significant mark to
the world. All participating WTO members are willing to push forward DOHA Round
negotiations by all means. The purpose of the Informal Ministerial Meeting
in Dalian is taking an attempt to help multilateral trade walks to meet the
accordant commitments under the WTO rules and for the solidary benefits for all
WTO members.
The Dalian Meeting will carry over till July. 18:00 pm. In
the morning of July 13th, discussion will embark on NAMA and Development issue.
The working lunch on July 13 will focus on the "Roadmap to Hong Kong". Then
talks will be enclosed in the Services and Rules in the afternoon of 13th. After
the meeting concludes, Minister Bo Xilai and Secretary John C. Tsang will
deliver Chairmen's Declaration and hold a News Briefing together with WTO
Director General Dr. Supachai to release relevant information.
