(DALIANNEWS)—The two-day WTO Informal Ministerial Meeting held from July 12
to 13 brought the north port city of Dalian an opportunity at the presence of
the world media correspondents.
Global well-known news agencies, Reuters, AP, AFP, NHK,
Bloomberg, etc sent out their WTO specialists and China issues
journalists hurried to the Meeting Venue in the city to get the utmostly prompt and
over-round report for WTO Infromal Ministerial Meeting in Dalian. The Meeting is said to help break WTO
DDA logjams on cutting tariffs on farm and industrial goods in front of this year’s
HK Ministerial Conference on December.
Caroline Emond, a correspondent of
Canadian Geneva Watch specializing for WTO negotiations on agriculture based in
WTO capital.
As the first time for her to come China, Caroline was
very much excited over a host of curiosities she founded in this city. Modernized
architecture, neat urban environment, numerous striking squares, and the
impressive Dalian World Expo Center where she watched a reception evening
performance hosted by local Municipality.
“Some WTO officials have never
been in China, and never heard of Dalian City, so as to many other WTO members prepresentives. By
hosting such significant meeting successfully, Dalian will tittup her
way onto the world political stage sooner or later” said Caroline.
The charm of the city
might also slow down the departure for those bustling correspondents for several
days. AFP photographer Peter Parks preferred to stay for a couple of days for
some local natural resorts within the city.
