¡¡2005-6-1 7:55:09

Gecis presently employs more than 12,500 people in Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Bangalore centres.

Gecis founded by Pramod Bhasin of GE Capital International Services fame is aiming to clock a revenue of US $750 million by December 2007, up from $426 million in 2004 as it expands into small but potential urban centres of India.

¡°Suburbanised India is quite important for us and we are currently looking at Nagpur, Goa and Bhubaneswar for spreading our network in the country,¡± Mr Bhasin told newsmen here after signing an MoU with the West Bengal government for setting up a high-end facility of the company at Salt Lake that would employ close to 1,500 people.

Stating that Gecis is pitcing for a revenue of $500 million at the end of 2005, Mr Bhasin said the overseas operations contribute around 25 per cent of the total revenue. ¡°We would like to continue to increase revenue per employee as GE has been on a growth path,¡± he added.

Gecis which presently employs more than 12,500 people in Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Bagalore, has nearly 5,000 people working in its overseas offices at Dalian (China), Budapest (Hungary) Juarez and Coborca (Mexico).

According to him, Gecis is contemplating to forge an Industry-University partnership in near future to train the students in newer areas of business, risk management, high end software, project management and top end of the financial services.

Asked whether Gecis has identified any university to start with, he said it has some ¡®important universities in mind¡¯ and declined to disclose the details.

To a question, Mr Bhasin denied that the rate of attrition is quite high in Gecis though wages do go up by 14 per cent per annum, specially in big cities. Compared to India, wage hike is not so steep in China.
